BAE Farmer's Market is OPEN - Saturday, 9 am - 1 pm

Posted 6/26/2015 7:36pm by David Paulk.

Hello Farm Friends,

We hope you've enjoyed this "cooler" weather today. We certainly have. Most of tomorrow should be in the 70's.  So, please don't let a few possible showers deter you. We will be there rain or shine with beautiful, fresh tasty produce just for you.  Check out what we'll have below!

What we'll have this Saturday

- Arugula: That spicy green you crave is back!

- Basil:  beautiful, fragrant basil bunches. Of course, perfect with the season's first tomatoes.

- Green Beans:  tasty, tender, slightly nutty green beans.

- Beets:  We have Red, Golden & Chioggia, sweet beets that are just beautiful and tasty. Try wrapped in foil and roasted on the grill...yum!

- Cucumbers: We have plenty! The cucumber tidal wave has hit! Two sweet types of fresh crisp cukes to choose from for your salads, a traditional "burpless" and an asian variety (similar to English cukes), both sweet, small seeds and tasty.

- Garlic (New!): Freshly harvested garlic is ready.  There's nothing better than locally grown, full-flavored garlic.

- Lettuce:  We have a limited amount this week of Romaine and Green Leaf lettuce.

- Red Onions: Freshly harvested, slightly sweet, rosy red onions. A great staple for your kitchen. Try grilling (low to medium flame)!

- Italian Flat Leaf Parsley: fresh, aromatic herb that is essential in Tabouleh, Italian dishes, and a wonderful addition to salads.

-  Sweet Peppers (New!):  We have a limited number of Oranos sweet peppers.  These are delicious orange peppers that we use in just about everything.

Red New Potatoes (New!):  If you've never tasted freshly harvested potatoes, you are missing out!  Just a quick boil until fork tender and toss with butter, or olive oil, minced garlic and flat leaf parsley. Great grilled.

- Zephyr Summer Squash: We have plenty! Delicious, sweet, and slightly nutty summer squash that's half yellow and half green. Really good grilled on a medium flame with onions and beets for a grilled vegetable salad...Yum!

- Zucchini Summer Squash: Yes, we have zucchini, a particularly tasty variety.

- Tomatoes: Yes, I think it's the earliest we've ever had tomatoes at the market and it's thanks to our high tunnels!  We have tasty hybrid slicing and heirloom tomatoes. The heirlooms are huge!
